  • Why ILLING?
  • Sustainability

Sustainable Packaging: Better materials. Smaller footprint.

ILLING helps you package sustainably and enhance the value of your products. Recycled, renewable, and refillable innovations reduce pollution and create a positive environmental impact.

SUSTAINABILITY & RECYCLING

Sustainable packaging isn’t one material. It’s a set of choices. From Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) and Ocean Bound Plastic to sugarcane Green PE, refillable systems, and Unibody tubes, plus rPET, PLA, and biodegradable materials, we’ll match the right option to your product, your goals, and your brand.

Five proven paths, one packaging partner.

01 — Ocean Bound Plastic

A second life for ocean-bound plastic.

Ocean Bound Plastic (OBP) is the problematic plastic most likely to wind up in the sea: usually mismanaged waste that spills out of coastal regions. We capture it and turn it into packaging with Post-Consumer Resins (PCR).

By packing the highest possible recycled content into each tube and bottle, we use very little virgin material, save resources, and divert plastic that was headed for the landfill. That gives consumed containers a second, or even third, life.

  • Certified Ocean Bound Plastic supply chain
  • High recycled content, minimal virgin material
  • Verified chain of custody for brand owners

02 — Green Polyethylene

Renewable, recyclable, grown from sugarcane.

Sugarcane is a versatile, renewable crop, and a clean source of raw material for plastics. Our portfolio features several HDPE and LDPE sugarcane resins suited to extrusion blow molding, injection molding, and film extrusion.

Tubes and bottles made from Green Polyethylene combine high performance and processability with a real commitment to the environment, reducing greenhouse-gas emissions across the production chain while staying 100% recyclable.

  • 100% recyclable, made from a renewable crop
  • Lower greenhouse-gas footprint, end to end

03 — PCR with ReciLoc

More recycled content, without the compromise.

Brands want to use more PCR, but the hard part is supply: specifically “clean” PCR resin grades that are free of contaminants and odors. ReciLoc™ technology helps solve that.

ReciLoc locks in the contaminants and odors common to PCR packaging, letting you safely use far more post-consumer recycled resin while protecting product and brand integrity. It expands the available PCR supply chain and keeps packaging recyclable, even enabling bottle-to-bottle recycling.

  • Locks in contaminants and odors
  • Unlocks more (and mixed-color) PCR grades
  • Maintains recyclability; enables bottle-to-bottle
  • Helps meet PCR goals and commitments

04 — Refillable Packaging

Refill it, don’t replace it.

Replaceable and refillable packaging is an effective way to act sustainably without sacrificing efficacy or aesthetics. We offer refillable bottles and jars, pails, and containers that let users top up a product in its original package.

That convenience cuts the waste and energy of manufacturing new packaging. Buying a refill instead of a new product can save up to 70% CO2, 65% energy, and 45% water, and reusable containers help establish a circular economy.

  • Refillable bottles, jars, pails & containers
  • Up to 70% less CO2, 65% less energy, 45% less water
  • Supports a circular, reuse-first economy

05 — Unibody Tubes

One material. Less plastic.

Unibody Tubes conjoin the cap through integrated molding with no additional heading, replacing the traditional tube, heading, and separate cap. The result uses about 20% less plastic than a standard tube with a flip-top cap.

The entire body and cap are 100% polypropylene, so Unibody Tubes drop into standard recycling streams and help reduce carbon production. The cap can be oriented to the artwork, and a shrink sleeve can be added for a tamper-evident pack.

  • About 20% less plastic than a standard flip-top tube
  • 100% polypropylene, tube and cap
  • Sizes: 19, 22, 30, 35mm oval, 38, 40 & 50mm
  • Optional tamper-evident sleeve; MOQ 10K per artwork

WHY IT MATTERS

Good for the planet. Good for your brand.

Sustainable packaging does more than shrink your footprint. It differentiates your product, answers your customers’ expectations, and helps you hit the commitments you’ve made.

Differentiate your shelf.

Recycled, renewable, and refillable options give your packaging a credible sustainability story that stands out at point of sale.

Meet your PCR goals.

ReciLoc and a broader recycled supply chain help you hit the recycled-content commitments your brand has already announced.

Close the loop.

Refillable systems and single-material designs support a circular economy: reuse, recycle, and keep materials in service longer.

Cut carbon and waste.

Less virgin plastic, lower greenhouse-gas emissions, and less material headed to the landfill: measurable impact, project by project.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Sustainability, answered.

Quick answers to what we hear most often. Reach out if yours isn’t here.

What sustainable materials can ILLING provide?
We offer a range of eco-friendly and recycling innovations: Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) resin, Ocean Bound Plastic (OBP) and rPET, sugarcane-based Green Polyethylene, PLA, biodegradable materials, refillable systems, and single-material Unibody tubes. Tell us about your product and we’ll match the right option to your goals.
What is Ocean Bound Plastic?
Ocean Bound Plastic (OBP) is the problematic plastic most likely to end up in the ocean: typically mismanaged waste that spills out of coastal regions. We capture it and turn it into packaging with Post-Consumer Resins, using the highest recycled content possible so very little virgin material is needed. ILLING offers a certified OBP supply chain so brand owners have verified assurance their packaging is part of the solution.
What is ReciLoc, and how does it help with PCR?
The biggest barrier to using more PCR is the limited supply of “clean” resin grades free of contaminants and odors. ReciLoc technology locks those contaminants and odors in place, preventing migration into the packaged product. That lets you safely use a broader range of PCR, including mixed-color grades, while maintaining recyclability and product integrity, helping you meet your recycled-content commitments.
Is sugarcane (Green PE) packaging recyclable?
Yes. Green Polyethylene is made from sugarcane, a renewable crop, and is 100% recyclable through standard polyethylene streams. Our portfolio includes HDPE and LDPE sugarcane resins suited to extrusion blow molding, injection molding, and film extrusion, so you can switch to a renewable feedstock without giving up performance.
Which materials actually get recycled after the bin?
It varies by material and by what your local recycling stream accepts. Our guide What Happens After the Bin: Recyclability by Material walks through what really happens to each common packaging material once it’s tossed, so you can set honest recyclability expectations for your product.
Can refillable or Unibody packaging really reduce my footprint?
Both cut material use meaningfully. Choosing a refill over a new product can save up to 70% CO2, 65% energy, and 45% water by reusing the original package. Unibody tubes integrate the cap into the tube body with no separate heading, using about 20% less plastic than a standard flip-top tube, and because the tube and cap are both 100% polypropylene, they fit standard recycling streams.
How do I get started, and what are the order minimums?
Start with a conversation. Tell us your product, fill, volumes, and sustainability targets, and we’ll recommend the best-fit material and format. Minimums vary by program; as an example, Unibody tubes carry a 10K-per-artwork MOQ. We’ll lay out options, lead times, and decoration before you commit.
