Pete Konchar
Director of Global Sales and Sourcing at ILLING Packaging. Based in Valparaiso, Indiana.
About
As Director of Global Sales and Sourcing, Pete Konchar runs ILLING’s international book of business, managing accounts from the Caribbean to Brazil to New Zealand while helping the wider sales team build the vendor relationships and supplier partnerships that open doors on future projects. He came up through fifteen years in packaging, seven of them selling open head rigid plastic at Berry Global and the last eight growing into a truly global role at ILLING.
When a rep runs out of domestic options, Pete’s network is usually the next call, and the answer often comes back within a day. He is just as likely to be found on a trade show floor as behind a quote, building the face-to-face relationships that turn one hard-to-source part into a long-term account. His approach is simple: match the packaging to what the customer actually needs, and treat the purchase order as the start of the relationship, not the finish.
Anyone can be available when things are rolling. What matters is being there when a customer needs it, good or bad, and staying visible and engaged when a challenging situation comes up.

Point of View
The purchase order is the start of the relationship, not the finish.
A lot of selling stops at the sale. Pete’s doesn’t. He treats fulfillment and follow-through as the real test, staying close to the account long after the order is placed so nothing slips between the quote and the dock.
It shows up in how he sizes a solution, too. Rather than pushing a tooling-heavy option that creates long lead times, he steers customers toward readily available packaging that matches their actual volume, and he vets every new vendor for values alignment first, competitive pricing and lead times second.
